Texas A&M Engineering Program names new associate dean
for academic programs
Dr. Jo Howze, professor of electrical engineering at Texas A&M University,
has been named associate dean of engineering for the Dwight Look College of
Engineering at Texas A&M and assistant director of the Texas Engineering
Experiment Station.
"Dr. Howze has extensive leadership and administrative experience, making
him an ideal individual for this post," said Dr. G. Kemble Bennett, Texas
A&M vice chancellor and dean of engineering and TEES director. "I
am excited about the enthusiasm and dedication he will bring to the position
and for the important role he will play as we begin working towards our academic

a Ford Motor Company Professorship, and leads the associated "Design
Across the Curriculum" initiative in the Engineering Program.
His research interests are in the areas of automatic controls and energy
systems, including dynamical systems modeling and engineering systems design
and design methodologies. Applications include hybrid vehicles, fuel cell
energy systems, power electronics, semiconductor processing controls and automotive
control systems.
Howze is a member of the American Society for Engineering Education, the
American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Sigma Xi, the national scientific
research society, and a senior member of the Institute for Electrical and
Electronics Engineering. He is currently Program Chairman for the International
Future Energy Challenge.
